How Shockwave Therapy Works
Shockwave Therapy uses high-energy sound waves to penetrate deep into tissues, breaking down scar tissue, reducing inflammation, and stimulating the body’s natural repair processes. Shockwave Therapy helps accelerate healing and relieve pain at its source by increasing circulation and metabolic activity in the affected area.
Shockwave Therapy focuses powerful sound waves on a small area. When these waves enter the body, they deliver short bursts of mechanical energy. This creates mild, localized stress in the injured tissue, which jumpstarts the body’s natural healing processes. This therapy is utilized in personalized treatments for:
- Knee pain
- Shoulder pain
- Hand and wrist pain
- Elbow pain
- Hip pain
- Foot pain
Why We Recommend Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave Therapy improves blood flow and circulation, breaks down scar tissue, and stimulates tissue repair. This relieves pain and promotes true, long-term healing at the cellular level without requiring injections or surgery.
Stimulates Blood Flow: Enhances circulation to injured tissues, providing the nutrients and oxygen needed for recovery.
Breaks Down Scar Tissue & Calcifications: This treatment dissolves calcium deposits and adhesions that may restrict movement or cause pain.
Reduces Pain Naturally: Triggers the release of endogenous painkillers (such as endorphins), reducing reliance on medications.
Speeds Up Tissue Regeneration: Promotes collagen production, essential for healing tendons, ligaments, and muscles.
Minimally Invasive with No Downtime: Safe, effective, and requires no injections or surgery so you can immediately return to daily activities.

Who Can Benefit from Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy can benefit individuals with chronic or acute musculoskeletal conditions, especially those involving tendons, ligaments, and other soft tissues.
For Tendon and Soft Tissue Injuries
Plantar Fasciitis: Reduces heel pain by breaking down calcium deposits and scar tissue in the plantar fascia.
Achilles Tendonitis: Stimulates tendon repair, helping to relieve chronic Achilles pain.
Tennis & Golfer’s Elbow: Alleviates pain and inflammation in the elbow tendons caused by repetitive strain injuries.
Rotator Cuff Tendonitis (Shoulder Pain): Helps restore mobility and function by improving blood flow to the shoulder tendons.
Patellar Tendonitis (Jumper’s Knee): Treats chronic knee pain caused by repetitive impact on the patellar tendon.
For Joint and Bone Conditions
Osteoarthritis: Encourages cartilage regeneration and reduces joint inflammation, delaying or preventing the need for surgery.
Hip Bursitis: Reduces pain and swelling caused by inflammation of the bursa in the hip joint.
Shin Splints: Aids in healing microtears in the shin muscles and connective tissues, common in runners and athletes.
For Sports and Overuse Injuries
Stress Fractures: Increases bone regeneration and healing in minor bone fractures caused by overuse.
Chronic Muscle Strains: Helps loosen tight, overworked muscles, preventing further injury.
Trigger Points & Myofascial Pain Syndrome: Breaks up painful muscle knots and improves flexibility.
For Nerve-Related Pain & Circulatory Issues
Peripheral Neuropathy: Improves circulation to nerves, helping reduce symptoms like numbness and tingling.
Diabetic Foot Pain: Stimulates blood flow to the feet, reducing discomfort and aiding nerve function.
Erectile Dysfunction (Vascular-Related ED): Studies show that Shockwave Therapy can enhance blood vessel formation, improving circulation and function in men with vascular ED.
What to Expect During Your Appointment
Learn more about what you can typically expect during a PelviPower therapy appointment from check-in to follow-up:
1
Initial Check-In and Consultation
We will review your specific pain areas, medical history, and any imaging (e.g., X-rays, ultrasounds) and, based on your condition, recommend the number of sessions you may need.
2
Getting Comfortable
We will guide you to a private treatment room, prepare the area to be treated by applying gel, and answer any questions you might have so you know exactly what to expect.
3
During the Session
You’ll sit or lie comfortably, and a handheld device delivers short, targeted pulses of high-energy sound waves. Sessions typically last 15–30 minutes, depending on the area and severity.
4
Monitoring and Adjustments
We’ll check your comfort level and adjust your settings. Mild soreness is normal, and signals increased circulation and healing. Your feedback will help us optimize your treatment.
5
After the Session
Many patients report immediate relief or looseness in the treated area. However, some mild redness, warmth, or soreness can occur as part of the body’s natural healing response. You’ll receive instructions on light activities or stretches at home, plus tips to avoid strenuous exercise.
6
Ongoing Follow-Up
Shockwave Therapy often requires 3–5 sessions spaced about a week apart. We’ll do brief check-ins to gauge improvements in pain, mobility, and overall function, adjusting your therapy plan as needed.
